Misdiagnosis
of a skin lesion can be a common source of
malpractice claims against practicing
podiatrists. One particular scenario that comes
to mind are the stories of “Plantar Warts” which
have been resistant to multiple treatments and
turn out, in fact, to be Squamous Cell
Carcinomas. In follow up to his lecture last
week, Dr. Dockery will discuss skin lesions in
detail for the 1st Year Resident Assignment
below.
The 2nd and 3rd Year Residents will get some of
the most current information on the sometimes
challenging topics of correct orthotic Rx
writing and the proper diagnosis and treatment
of Tarsal Coalition.
We again thank you for following the suggested
curriculum and hope that you are getting good
benefit from the program. The statistics on
lecture viewing show that most of you are
choosing to follow along with the lectures as
assigned. Also, just to give you a sneak peak,
we are in the process of developing an
‘incentive’ or ‘award’ for the programs which
best follow the curriculum and have the largest
percentage of lecture viewership. So stick to
watching the lectures each week…you might just
get a sharp reward for it!

Dr. Dockery takes the viewer through a series of interesting cases that can easily be misdiagnosed as common warts of the lower extremity. The presentation proceeds to discuss the clinical findings and diagnostic signs of the various conditions and Dr. Dockery points out the current treatment options for the various conditions. The viewer is encouraged to use an open mind when developing a diagnosis of lesions consistent with warts and to consider the other common benign lesions in the differential diagnosis.
This lecture provides a systematic approach to prescribing orthoses relative to the
patient's pathology. Simple determinants are provided for materials, cast corrections and orthotic additions to improve clinical outcomes. The lecture further focuses on treating two conditions with orthoses plantar fasciitis with heel pain and the pediatric habitual toe walker.
This PRESENT lecture is brought to you
