PRESENT
GOES ON THE ROAD AGAIN
to the
Historic World Congress of Podiatry

CEO, PRESENT Courseware, Dr. Alan Sherman
The PRESENT Courseware team attended the 2004 American Podiatric Medical
Association annual meeting and the World Congress of Podiatry in Boston this
month. This meeting may very well be the largest gathering of foot and
ankle specialists ever held. Over 1700 podiatrists, over 3600 total attendees and
over 300 vendors were in attendance. Many pair of sturdy shoes were worn
out traversing that Exhibition Hall.
The Fédération Internationale des Podologues (FIP) held its annual conference in
the days preceding the APMA meeting. Over 150 podiatrists from outside the
United States turned the APMA Meeting into the World Congress of Podiatry.

Representatives from around the globe exchange ideas
This organization’s mission is to ensure access to high quality foot and ankle
care for all people, through collaboration with national and international
organizations of podiatrists and other health organizations. The federation was
founded in 1947 and consists of podiatric organizations and individuals from 19
countries on 5 continents worldwide that provide over 150 million patients
visits per year. The emphasis of this years meeting was “Globalizing the
Podiatric Profession.”

Representatives from around the world listen to translation of the F.I.P.
presentation.
Numerous presentations discussed the clinical and theoretical competencies
required for graduation from podiatry courses in Britain, Australia, New
Zealand, South Africa, Canada, and the USA.
The PRESENT crew had the good fortune to break bread and “toss down a few” with a great many
of these international podiatrists.

The international podiatrists were all thoroughly impressed and delighted with PRESENT’s comprehensive
courseware curriculum and state of the art e-learning technology. We look
forward in the months ahead to bringing you all a very healthy exchange of
dialogue with our international colleagues. The overwhelming success of the
international program can be attributed to the efforts of F.I.P. president Dr.
Ronald S. Lepow and Anthony J. McNevin, C.A.E., Conference Manager and Director
of the F.I.P. North American office.
