SCOPE of PRACTICE Survey
Result
Last week we asked your opinion in a survey about Scope of
Practice for Podiatry. Here are the results from those of you who responded to
the online questionnaire:
These two simple questions and your 66 replies confirm the
need for further action in this difficult area. 99% of responders agreed that
there should be an attempt to standardize the various state laws and 76% of you
felt that the most appropriate wording would be "foot, ankle, and related
structures in the leg." 9%
of you want the hip included. We say, you go guys and gals !
So what can you do about this? The first thing is to make
sure you are an active member of our professional organizations such as APMA and
the ACFAS. Both of these organizations are already working on scope related
issues and would welcome your interest and opinions. Another key factor is
actively participate and contribute to your state and national political action
committees such as PPAC.
If you haven't done so yet, please take a moment to complete this survey:
In next week's Residency Insight I will be publishing the "Top
10 Things I Wish I Had Learned Before Starting Practice"
Contributors to this list will include practitioners old and new who have
something they would like to share with new residency graduates. If you have
something you would like to suggest for the Top 10 List, please email it to me
at jsteinberg@podiatry.com
