OFFICIAL RULES
1. Rumble 2006 begins Monday, May 1, 2006 and will continue until only one program remains...the winner !
2. NEW FORMAT We've made it much easier for you this year. The Rumble is no longer a synchronous live event. You no longer all need to be ready to complete the round at 6PM PST or 9PM EST on Tuesday night. You now have 24 hours to complete each round and it doesn't matter WHEN in that 24 hour period you submit your responses. Residency Rumble 2006 Rounds are released each Tuesday at noon and the deadline for completing the round is Noon Wednesday 24 hours later. You have 24 hours to login and complete the round and it doesn't matter when during that 24 hours time period you complete the round. However, SPEED still DOES matter. You guys are so darned smart that it's impossible to come up with questions that most of you don't know the answers to, or at least, can't find given enough time. So from the moment that you login, you are being timed and we WILL be using the time that you take to complete the round as a criterion for ranking the responses to that round.
3. Five questions per quiz
4. The first round will be a qualification round. The number of participants advancing will be dependent on the number of registrations, so that we can create a standard single elimination tournament ladder. If more than 64 residency programs register, then only the top 64 will qualify. Beginning with week two, there will be a single elimination tournament ladder...each week, one program goes up against another randomly selected program, and only the victor goes on to the next round. Rivalries are encouraged.
5. Quiz questions are answered online
6. Only one set of responses is allowed per residency program. Once a set of responses for a round is submitted by a program, the system will not allow any subsequent logins for that program until the next round.
7. We encourage communication and collaboration among the residents in a program to submit the one best response. We encourage the residents to be on the phone, communicate via email or to actually be together when they submit their responses during the 24 hour Rumble period. This will provide the greatest collective brain trust, to maximize the performance of that program.
8. Grading of the responses will be done as follows: 1st priority is accuracy, 2nd is speed. For example, If Program A gets 4 out of 5 correct, and Program B gets 3 out of 5 correct, Program A wins, even if their response was submitted later. If BOTH programs get 4 out of 5 correct, the program who’s response was received FIRST wins. Our web forms log the exact time that the program takes to submit their responses after they login.
9. Each weekly Rumble Round's Responses must be received no later than noon on Wednesday each week, so each program has 24 hours to submit their responses.
